Quilting

I had a wonderful time by the seaside. This picture was taken after a rainstorm, and the ocean was a bit rough. The fog still clung closely to the water, painting a dreary, yet gorgeous scene.

The next day we went on a hike through the forest. Everything was still a bit wet, damp, and cold until we made it to the top of the hill and above the fog. We noticed a lot of fallen trees along the way, probably a result of the previous storm that had blown through a few weeks ago.

It’s been a while since I’ve been on a hike like this and I’ve decided we need to make more of an effort to get away from the city and back into nature. I have a dream of living in a cottage in a forest or a country setting. Hopefully someday that will come true.

While away I read through some of the crafty blogs I follow and came across Cozy Things blog post about quilting. I have never quilted before — all of the cutting and measuring always seemed to be a bit daunting to me — but I was inspired by how she was making her quilt without worrying about all of the technical stuff. I decided to give it a go, especially since I have a huge pile of fabric scraps waiting to be used…

This isn’t even a fraction of the fabric bits and pieces I’ve had stored in my closet. It’s time to give them some life!

I don’t have the patience to hand sew my quilt, so I’m using my machine. It’s definitely imperfect… It’s definitely going to be a bit funky and uneven, but I don’t mind. I’m having a lot of fun with it. x
